Raised in Kingston and now based in Ottawa, Joel graduated from the University of Ottawa with a degree in Finance. Real estate brought together his interest in homes, design and lifestyle with the parts of work he enjoys most: building relationships, solving unfamiliar problems and continually learning. Today, he serves clients across Ottawa and Eastern Ontario, including the communities between Ottawa and Kingston.
Clients know Joel for his relaxed manner, direct advice and dedication. When a question arises, he takes the time to research it. When a transaction becomes complicated, he works through the details, approaches negotiations logically and looks for practical, creative ways forward. His financial background informs how he assesses value and risk, while his curiosity keeps him looking beyond the obvious answers.
His experience spans residential, rural, waterfront, lifestyle, farm, agricultural, investment and commercial properties. Each calls for a different understanding of the property and the people involved. Whether a client is choosing a home, evaluating an investment or navigating a commercial opportunity, Joel begins by understanding their objectives and helping them ask the right questions.
Waterfront real estate has particular personal meaning. Owning a cottage was a dream Joel expected to achieve later in life, but his experience in the industry helped him reach that goal earlier than he imagined. Purchasing his cottage on Bobs Lake gave him a personal appreciation for what the right property can make possible, and he enjoys helping others explore what waterfront ownership could look like for them.
Growing up, Joel played junior hockey and competitive soccer, learning the value of preparation, teamwork and commitment. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing and spending time at the lake.
Through Marshall & Company, Joel brings that same involvement to his clients’ experience: thoughtful preparation, honest conversations and steady support, from the first questions through the details that follow a purchase or sale.
